BELRIM Golden Jubilee
To mark our 50th anniversary, BELRIM together with main sponsor HDI Global SE is organising its Golden Jubilee on June 20th 2024 at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels from 8.30 am to 11.30 pm. And with the accompanying slogan “Ceci n’est pas un risque, het is een opportuniteit”, it winks at Magritte and the increasing importance of risk managers today.
The programme includes inspiring talks by leading figures from the world of risk management, engaging panel discussions and the exchange of best practices and innovative ideas. In addition, there will be room for networking, strengthening connections between professionals in the field and a visit to the museum while the day will be graced with musical and culinary delights. But most of the attention will undoubtedly go to the two main speakers: Rudi Vranckx, who as a celebrated war journalist knows what it feels like to take personal risk and Vice-Admiral (ret.) of the Belgian Navy, Wim Robberecht who will highlight the increased insecurity on a global scale.
Gaëtan Lefèvre, our current president of BELRIM, is already looking forward to celebrating the organisation’s rich past, embracing the present and exploring the future of risk management with guests at this special event.

Challenges
The Belgian Risk Management Association is 50 years young this year and during that time it has actively assisted managers in the field of risk and insurance management to meet the growing challenges in an ever-changing world. During that time, BELRIM has also helped put the risk manager function on the map, as an essential part of a well-run business, and informed people in the sector through numerous seminars and information sessions and brought them together to network and exchange ideas.
Today, BELRIM is a thriving organisation with over 200 members. Risk managers from all sectors, but also insurance companies and brokers are well represented within the organisation. And with Young BELRIM, BELRIM aims to make the sector attractive to young professionals. With this diversity, future orientation and hands-on approach we want to ensure that BELRIM continues to be an important force in the world of risk management in the years to come.
Despite the progress made, BELRIM still has a lot of work to do to help companies develop proper risk management. On the positive side, more and more companies, including SMEs, are well aware that well-developed risk management can help them cope with increasing challenges and risks, including cybercrime and the vulnerability of logistics chains. To keep its finger on the pulse, BELRIM organises regular meetings to exchange views on current industry issues.
